Cross-Site Reporting

Introduction

Cross-Site Reporting is an advanced data integration feature designed to bridge the analytics gap between your top-level domain and its associated subdomains. By leveraging shared cookies, this feature establishes a unified Client ID across your entire site ecosystem. Whether a customer interacts with an ad on your main domain (e.g., brand.com) or browses a regional sub-site (e.g., us.brand.com), Cross-Site Reporting seamlessly merges these event streams. This provides you with a holistic, uninterrupted view of the customer journey from the very first touchpoint to the final conversion.

Core Values & Benefits

  • Unified Customer Journey Mapping: Eliminate data silos. Connect the dots between top-of-funnel marketing efforts on your main site and bottom-of-funnel conversions on your sub-sites to reveal the true path to purchase.

  • Accurate Cross-Domain Attribution: Ensure your marketing ROI is measured correctly. Accurately attribute purchases made on localized or specialized sub-sites back to the original promotional campaigns running on your main domain.

  • Centralized Data Routing: Leverage our advanced backend event routing. Events captured on the main site are intelligently mirrored and sent to the respective sub-site organizations (e.g., simultaneously routing brand.com events to us.brand.com and uk.brand.com), enabling combined analysis in a single dashboard.

  • Frictionless Implementation: Powered by our optimized Embed Theme extension, the unified cookie tracking works automatically in the background without requiring complex manual tagging or disrupting the end-user experience.

Primary Use Cases

  • Multi-Site DTC Brands (Promotion vs. Conversion): This feature is purpose-built for Direct-to-Consumer brands that utilize a central main site for brand awareness and content marketing, but direct users to specific sub-sites for transactions. For example, a user clicks a promotional banner on the main site (brand.com) but completes the checkout on a dedicated regional Shopify store (us.brand.com). Cross-Site Reporting merges these sessions, allowing you to analyze the complete user path and prove the conversion value of the main site's promotional efforts.

  • Global Brands with Regional Subdomains: For brands operating multiple regional stores under one umbrella domain, this feature allows you to understand how users navigate between your global hub and regional storefronts before making a purchase decision.

How It Works & Limitations

Our team handles the heavy lifting by optimizing your tracking setup to ensure C IDs are unified across your selected sites. We then configure backend routing rules in Kafka to process and associate the cross-site logic automatically.

  • Note on Historical Data: Because this feature relies on establishing a new, unified Cookie ID infrastructure moving forward, historical data collected prior to enablement cannot be retroactively merged.
